Local Storage

All user data — including journals, bill records, receipt images, and settings — is stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. We do not operate any servers and do not collect or upload your personal data.

Receipt Images

Photos of receipts and invoices are stored locally on your device. When you use AI recognition, images are sent directly to your chosen AI provider for processing. They are never sent to our servers.

API Keys

To use AI features, you provide your own third-party AI service API keys (e.g., Gemini, OpenAI, Doubao). These keys are stored only on your device and are never sent anywhere other than the AI provider you selected.

The App integrates with third-party AI services to provide bill recognition and timeline image generation. No data is sent to any AI service until you explicitly consent through the in-app consent prompt.

Supported AI Providers

You choose which provider processes your data. The supported providers are:

• Google Gemini (Google LLC) — Privacy Policy
• OpenAI (OpenAI, Inc.) — Privacy Policy
• Doubao (ByteDance Ltd.) — Privacy Policy

What Data Is Sent

Bill Recognition: When you use AI to recognize a bill, the following data is sent to your chosen AI provider:

• Photos of receipts or invoices that you select (converted to JPEG format)
• A text prompt instructing the AI to extract merchant name, date, amount, currency, category, line items, and notes

Timeline Generation (Minds): When you generate a Mind timeline image, the following data is sent to Google Gemini:

• Journal name and currency
• Bill timeline summary: merchant names, dates, amounts, and categories
• A text prompt requesting an artistic infographic

Not sent: Your API key is used only for authentication with the provider. Your full financial history, other journals, device identifiers, or any other personal data is never sent.

How Data Is Sent

All requests are sent directly from your device to the AI provider's API over HTTPS. Data does not pass through any BillMind servers. We do not operate any servers.

How AI Providers Use Your Data

Each AI provider processes your data according to their own privacy policy (linked above). BillMind requires that the AI providers you connect to provide protection of your data. We recommend reviewing your chosen provider's privacy policy and API data usage terms before using AI features.

The App requires your explicit consent before sharing any data with third-party AI services. Specifically:

• In-App Consent: The first time you use an AI feature, the App presents a consent screen that discloses what data will be sent, identifies the AI provider, and requires you to agree before proceeding.
• Revoke Anytime: You can revoke your consent at any time in Settings > Privacy. Once revoked, no further data will be sent to AI services.
• Use Without AI: You can use the App entirely without AI — bills can be entered manually, and Demo Mode lets you explore all features using sample data with no network requests.
• Choose Your Provider: You decide which AI provider processes your data by selecting it in Settings.
• Delete Your Data: All data is stored locally. Deleting the App removes all data from your device. You can also delete individual journals or bills at any time.
